GR10K Material Systems

GR10K is an independent design studio and clothing company based in Milan, Italy, operating across technical apparel, industrial research, and bespoke uniform systems.

Founded in 2018, the studio emerged from one of Italy's longest-standing workwear manufacturing families, drawing upon almost a century of industrial garment production, material knowledge, and technological development. Conceived within an environment of factories, archives, textile innovation and protective clothing production, GR10K translates industrial manufacturing into contemporary garments, objects, and research.

Rather than referencing industry, GR10K operates from within it.

Positioned between industrial production and contemporary design, GR10K develops seasonal collections, GR10K Replicated, bespoke uniform programme and collaborative projects that investigate the relationship between garments, specialised labour, manufacturing and the environments in which they operate.

The studio works directly with industrial manufacturers, textile mills, specialist suppliers, and independent craftspeople across Italy and Europe. Existing technologies, protective systems, and production methods are preserved and extended rather than reproduced as visual references. Materials including Klopman industrial fabrics, GORE-TEX laminates, Cordura, Kevlar and reclaimed technical textiles are employed according to their original fields of application, allowing garments to retain their operational integrity while occupying new cultural contexts.

Since its inception, GR10K has actively incorporated recovered deadstock, surplus, and second-chance materials into both seasonal collections and ongoing programmes. Rather than treating existing materials as a sustainability exercise, the studio regards them as existing industrial resources. Garments are often developed around the inherent qualities of available materials, extending the service life of high-performance textiles while preserving manufacturing knowledge and reducing unnecessary production.

Alongside its seasonal collections, GR10K designs and produces bespoke uniforms for architecture studios, cultural institutions, galleries, hospitality projects, manufacturers, industrial partners and private organisations. Each programme is developed through close collaboration with the client, combining technical specification, functional requirements, and long-term service with the studio's ongoing research into industrial clothing systems.

GR10K Replicated is the studio's permanent programme of garments and utility objects developed beyond seasonality, trend and individual authorship. Built upon industrial uniform archetypes and continuous production, the programme preserves defining GR10K systems through ongoing manufacture, allowing core garments to remain available independently of the seasonal collection.

Operating independently across design, development, production, wholesale, and communication, GR10K maintains a multidisciplinary practice extending beyond fashion. The studio collaborates with artists, musicians, engineers, manufacturers, architects and cultural organisations through installations, exhibitions, publications, product development, and applied research, treating garments as one component within a broader material ecosystem.

Rather than following seasonal narratives, GR10K approaches clothing as an evolving system of utility, maintenance, adaptation, and continuous production. Garments are informed by rigorous working environments, industrial infrastructure, and specialist manufacturing, developing through application rather than abstraction.
